I’m sort of sad I had to give up my attempt at creating a blog called Fulton’s Folly but never getting around to updating it meant it wasn’t very productive or entertaining. Ever since I learned my husband was (very) distantly related to the Robert Fulton known for designing and building the first commercially successful steamboat Clermont in 1807, I thought that vessel’s nickname should probably be applied to a few things that “my Bob” and I had done. But I don’t dare name our virtual store Fulton’s Folly lest you think our products haven’t been made with the appropriate attention to detail and quality. We have certainly strived to design and create the best finished objects we could whether in wood or fiber. We hope you enjoy using them as much as we enjoyed making them.
Our initial plans were to have a single webpage for all our products, but in order to give you as much information about the items as possible, it seems like we would need to use multiple pages rather than one that rivals an encyclopedia for length. So the following should give you a brief overview of our policies and overall interests we’ve followed. Oh, something else – click on any photo to see an enlarged picture.
First, in general, for any of these items, you can always send an email about your interest and make payment by mailing a check after we calculate exactly what is due. Although our regular credit card capabilities will be down for the next couple months, we are setting up a PayPal business account under Rhodie Hill Farm so you will be able to use that as needed. As soon as these systems are in place we’ll let you know. If you are interested in any of our products in the meantime, please email us at email@example.com and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can. We are also in the process of adding PayPal buttons and a shopping cart on these webpages where appropriate. Since this is all new to me, please have patience as I figure out shipping costs, taxes due, and all the other bits and pieces involved. If you see one of us at a fiber event or at one of our workshops, cash will also be gladly accepted.
We would prefer to pass our products to you in person so you know right away what you are getting and because it saves time and money, but shipping is possible for everything. Larger items will take more time to get to you as we create safe packaging for them. All items will be shipped by the US Postal Service. In general, smaller items will be bundled and packaged in standard sized mailing boxes so a standard shipping charge can be calculated. Other separate shipping & handling fees will only be added for products requiring special packaging including but not limited to, the wood weaving tools, looms, loom stands, and English Combs. We expect to calculate these additional costs ahead of time and add them to the charges shown on your final shopping cart display. (This is one of the things we are working out at the moment & have not finalized.) Naturally we will combine your smaller purchased items together as much as possible to lessen total shipping charges; we will let you know if multiple packages are used to complete your order.
